Coping with stress and uncertainty is never easy. Social distancing, unemployment, working at home, isolation and not knowing what will happen next have helped raise everyone’s anxiety. As a response to the COVID-19 crisis I am now offering TelePsychology sessions. If you are in need of therapy for anxiety, depression, chronic pain or other issue it is now possible for you to obtain needed care through a secure, encrypted video conference. All you need is a computer or other internet connected device with a video camera and microphone. You won’t need to download anything. Video conferencing has been shown to be about as effective as face to face therapy. During this crisis period many insurance companies are covering these sessions. Some will even cover you copay! Give me a call to find out if TelePscyhology is right for you.

For people who are thinking about entering a psycho-therapeutic relationship for the first time there are undoubtedly some hard questions you are asking. Does this work? Is it worth the time, energy and financial cost?
The short answer is definitely ‘yes’ to all of the above. There is a large body of research that demonstrates that psychotherapy is effective in helping reduce depression, and anxiety and relieving emotional suffering in general. The mindfulness approaches which I use in my practice can help prevent relapse for those who have recurrent depression. Mindfulness is also a great way to increase your psychological flexibility.
My colleague Pauline Wallen has written a brief article about some of the other benefits of -therapy. You can see her comments here.
